A Natural Treasure
During a walk near a forest in beautiful central France, I stumbled upon a real treasure: wild blackberries! I couldn’t resist picking them and turning them into a delicious homemade jam made with just sugar and lemon.
Ingredients:
200 g of wild blackberries
70 g of sugar
Juice of 1/4 lemon
Method
Wash the blackberries well and place them in a pot with sugar and lemon juice.
Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the jam has thickened, turn off the heat and let it cool.
Pour the jam into sterilized jars and store in a cool place.
🔍 The Secret of Blackberries: Vitamin K!
In addition to their irresistible flavor, blackberries are a rich source of Vitamin K, essential for our body. This vitamin:
Supports the blood clotting process, which is vital for wound healing and preventing excessive bleeding.
Contributes to bone health, helping to maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. 💪
A portion of blackberries can provide up to 20% of your daily Vitamin K needs, making them not just delicious but a powerful ally for your health!
Perfect Pairing with Bagoss Cheese and Parmigiano Reggiano
I paired this jam with Bagoss cheese, creating a perfect combination. It also pairs wonderfully with Parmigiano Reggiano, another cheese that enhances the sweet and tangy flavors of the jam.
What is Bagoss Cheese?
Bagoss is a traditional cheese from the province of Brescia in Lombardy. It is a hard cheese made primarily from cow’s milk, known for its intense and aromatic flavor, with notes of hazelnut and a slightly spicy aftertaste.
Typically aged for a minimum of 6 months to over a year, Bagoss is distinguished by its hard rind and vibrant yellow interior. It is ideal for enjoying on its own or paired with jams, creating the perfect balance between sweet and savory.
Parmigiano Reggiano is another excellent choice. This famous Italian cheese is known for its rich, nutty flavor and crumbly texture, making it a delightful counterpart to the sweetness of the blackberry jam.
Adding this jam to your breakfast or as a pairing with either cheese is a true act of wellness.
(Suggest to pearing with a good Franciacorta white wine)
